چکیده
Abstract Two of the largest subfamilies Crambidae, Pyraustinae and Spilomelinae, have 341 species recorded in Japan, but their natural relationships are poorly understood. We reconstructed a molecular phylogeny based on one mitochondrial (COI) three nuclear genes (CAD, EF1-α, RpS5) for 129 69 genera Spilomelinae 62 27 from Japan. The concatenated data was analyzed by maximum likelihood Bayesian inference methods. Our results recovered most tribes recognized previous study, Pyraustini is paraphyletic as it includes Portentomorphini, Nomophilini comprise Trichaeini. species-rich Patania, Nacoleia, Glyphodes , Syllepte polyphyletic need thorough revision. In Pyraustinae, “Monocotyledon-clade” Anania sensu lato were first time. Based phylogenetic morphological investigations, we propose six taxonomic changes, including transfer Acropentias to Lathrotelinae Mabra Pyraustinae. Fourteen unplaced two newly assigned tribes.

Thermal requirements and development of Herpetogramma phaeopteralis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae: Spilomelinae).
ABSTRACT The tropical sod webworm, Herpetogramma phaeopteralis Guenée is a major turfgrass pest in the southeastern United States. We evaluated larval development on five artificial diets and at six temperatures (15, 20, 25, 30, 32.5, 35 +/- 1 degree C) on St. Augustinegrass (Stenotaphrum secundatum (Walter) Kuntze). Only larvae fed St. Augustinegrass and soy-wheat germ diets completed their li...
متن کاملReview of the genus Thliptoceras Warren, 1890 (Lepidoptera: Crambidae: Pyraustinae) from the Oriental region of China.
The species of the genus Thliptoceras Warren, 1890 from the Oriental region of China are reviewed, and a description of the genus is given. Five new species, T. bicuspidatum sp. nov., T. semicirculare sp. nov., T. bisulciforme sp. nov., T. filamentosum sp. nov. and T. impube sp. nov. are described. T. fulvimargo (Warren, 1895) is newly recorded for China. A key to the species of the Oriental re...
متن کاملVolatile Compounds Release by the Hair Pencils in Male Prophantis smaragdina (Lepidoptera: Crambidae: Spilomelinae)
Courtship behavior in several pyralid species is associated with the exposure to male hair pencils (HPs) or special scales that released volatile compounds. HP chemicals induce conspecific female and/or male behaviors and are therefore qualified as male pheromones. Preliminary observation on the coffee berry moth (CBM), Prophantis smaragdina Butler (Lepidoptera: Crambidae: Spilomelinae) mating ...
متن کاملA new species of Herpetogramma (Lepidoptera, Crambidae, Spilomelinae) from eastern North America
Herpetogramma sphingealissp. n., a new species of Crambidae (Lepidoptera), is described from Québec, Canada. The species is included in the genus Herpetogramma Led., 1863, a genus in the subfamily Spilomelinae. Adults and genitalia of this species are described and illustrated, as well as those of Herpetogramma aeglealis (Walker, 1859) and Herpetogramma thestealis (Walker, 1859), and adults of ...
متن کاملA DNA Barcode Library for North American Pyraustinae (Lepidoptera: Pyraloidea: Crambidae)
Although members of the crambid subfamily Pyraustinae are frequently important crop pests, their identification is often difficult because many species lack conspicuous diagnostic morphological characters. DNA barcoding employs sequence diversity in a short standardized gene region to facilitate specimen identifications and species discovery. This study provides a DNA barcode reference library ...
